Project description:
Within the framework of the project we intend to carry out a research, development and innovation activity in the technological system of KALL Ingredients Ltd.. During the R&D&I activity we developed research sub-areas that in one area ensure the production of lactic acid by itself or in a material matrix, while in another area they aim to reduce the production of lactic acid. KALL Ingredients Ltd. produces feed, sugar, and alcohol products through the wet milling process of corn. In this technological system, the complex role of lactic acid can be both beneficial (in direct or indirect production) and harmful (e.g. in alcohol fermentation).
Within this R+D+I activity, we have set ourselves the goal of acquiring new knowledge and expertise that lead to the development of new processes, as well as existing products that facilitate the significant development of products that correspond to the roles of lactic acid listed below, which are the followings:
- Investigating the potential for reducing lactic acid generation in alcohol fermentation.
- Production of cereal syrup for fermentation.
- Investigating the feasibility of direct production of lactic acid using available internal material streams.
