Applied industrial research for the thermolytic recovery of sludge-like waste for the Circular Economy (2019-2.1.13-TÉT_IN-2020-00071)

Project ID: 2019-2.1.13-TÉT_IN-2020-00071

Project description:

The project "Applied industrial research for the thermolithic utilisation of sludge-like wastes in the interest of the Circular Economy and the biogeochemical cycle" aims to lay the technical foundations for the disposal, valorisation and production of saleable end products from sludge-like wastes left over from wastewater treatment, and to optimise and fine-tune the technology. A further objective is to produce a product from the waste that is pathogen-free in its organic nutrient composition, highly marketable and recyclable into the biogeochemical cycle. The promoters have brought several new products, processes and services to the market in the 3 years preceding the submission of the application, and have decades of R&D experience. The project will involve the desludging (below 15%) and thermochemical transformation of different sludges under different parameters (temperature, residence time, etc.). The composition and properties of the reaction products (e.g. oil, solid residue) will then be determined. The impact of the origin and composition of the waste on these properties will also be investigated. During the cooperation, the best "quality" output product will be identified and based on its production parameters, the Indian partner will carry out further tests/parameter optimisation, adapt it according to its technology - further develop the technology according to the waste streams typically found locally (different materials, different composition, different moisture content). Based on these, further proposals for the development and modification of the "technology matrix" will be made. In this way, an internationally applicable, applied technology system can be developed. The results will be disseminated at various levels, published internationally, and the resulting technical results and products will be sold on the international market.
